Website design, straightforward really. Business owners want websites that actually generate sales, a no-brainer. We all want visitors to jump on our websites, have a read and then buy from us, simple right?
Well not really, it’s only simple if visitors and hopefully, prospective customers, can actually find what they’re looking for. Making it simple for visitors to locate what they are looking for should be central in any website design project.
Through the use of tidy website design and straightforward, uncluttered navigation menu bars, sidebars etc, visitors will actually find what they’re looking for.
Poor Website Design
We all get irritated by websites that have complicated – often rubbish navigation bars, dotted around the place, with hard to find contact details etc, so we as visitors just end up giving up and finding a competitor.
This is a real gripe of ours because typically a lack of content is really not the trouble. More often than not it’s just too much content stuffed into landing pages such as the homepage so it just overwhelms the visitor. It’s not just a small website design problem found among small businesses, even huge companies and organisations have difficult layouts and navigation systems – just who did their website design?
Take OCR for example, the examination board, their navigation system is pants! Probably the worst we’ve come across.
Remember, if you want customers to actually buy from you and find what they’re looking for – ensure they can find it in the first place. Ensure that you have easy navigation systems in place in your website design projects.
