SEO: Geeky Pale Guys In Dark Shady Rooms?

SEO - search engine optimisation

or ‘’ for short, the art of getting your website ranking higher on Google than your competitors has always been seen by traditional business owners as a task that’s carried out by geeky pale guys in dark shady rooms away from the world.  This attached a real mystery to the concept, but at the same time allowed dishonest, corrupt service providers to overcharge clients that they’ve coerced into signing up to a service that in the end just doesn’t work.  (Check our previous blog post about honesty)

This is where ‘black hat’ and ‘white hat’ SEO comes into play, SEO shouldn’t be seen as something that’s done behind closed doors or just a service provided by corrupt cold callers, it’s pretty simple to carry out a white hat SEO campaign, it just takes commitment and honesty.

Carrying out a best-practice SEO project includes the application of a pretty basic collection of ethical concepts and steps.

There are 4 crucial steps to any kind of honest Search Engine Optimisation project, they are:

SEO In 4 Easy Steps

1. keyword research.

2. content creation.

3. website design and development.

4. link creation.

We deliberately numbered the above because that’s the order in which campaigns should be carried out, in 4 easy steps.

In the end, we probably shouldn’t write how we go about our own clients SEO campaigns –  but way too many traditional web designers end up going about SEO in a weird backwards – and often detrimental order – design first, keyword research later.

Make sure your Search Engine Optimisation provider or web designer does go about SEO in the above order :)
